MyGolfSpy aims to have a variety of golfing equipment for member testing and this is the second time SQAIRZ has participated. With Sepp Straka wearing these shoes while winning the John Deere Classic last month, the timing to have our forum members put the SQAIRZ SPEED BOLD through their paces could not have been better.
Before we go into the testers’ thoughts and reviews, let’s hear what SQAIRZ Founder Robert Winskowicz has to say about the role golf shoes play and their importance to your game.

With that background, expectations have been set pretty high. So what did our testers say about their experience with the SQAIRZ SPEED BOLD golf shoe?
SQAIRZ SPEED BOLD Golf Shoes Review
Golf shoes need to perform on the course, of course, but they should also look good. With six color options, our testers were able to select their favorite and then let MyGolfSpy know what their first impressions were.
Out of the box, here is what our testers had to say. It should be noted that all the testers consulted with Winskowicz to ensure they were sent the proper size.
What Testers Said
Tester scubahoops had some notes on the finer details at first glance.
“The black material is very soft and looks fantastic. The toe is definitely square and has a nice plastic cover that wraps up around the toes, that is where a lot of shoes I have used in the past separate or get dirty and messed up on the right foot from being dragged on the follow through. These look like they should hold up better.”
Tester JeremyD added this when he first tried his golf shoes on.
“When I got them on, while they felt a little snug at the onset for my right foot, the left foot felt amazing. As I am typing this, I have had these on for over an hour, and any tightness with my right foot has gone away.”
All of our testers appreciated the personal notes in each box from Winskowicz and were intrigued about the shoelaces.
Tester Scramblinman was particularly impressed.
“The most fascinating thing to me were the shoelaces! – The laces have tacky little bubbles throughout. These bubbles prevent the laces from coming undone as you play your round of golf.”
SQAIRZ SPEED BOLD Golf Shoes Fit & Feel
Overall, our five testers were quite happy with the fit, feel and looks out of the box but, according the SQAIRZ, the shoes’ real advantage is revealed on the course which is where our testers had a lot more to say.
Our testers’ handicaps ranged from 7.1 to 20 and their swing speeds from 91 to 112 mph.
Tester Scubahoops: “I have never felt more grounded during a swing than I have with these shoes. I swing hard and I would lose my balance in my follow through in 1 out of every 10 full swings with all the other shoes I have worn, like my adidas CodeChaos. With these shoes that happened 1 in 30 or 40 full swings, maybe once a round. The stability is amazing. I know what stability means but I couldn’t quite envision how that translated into the shoes and your swing until now…Your feet are snug in the shoe and the shoe is built to help you connect to the ground and allow you to channel you energy through the shoe into the ground and swing away”
Tester Blaine Dye:
“Whether it be the tee box, rough, fairway, or sand these shoes do not move. On a course with lots of hills, I still did not move. I did not get the extra yardage that was claimed, but I had less mishits and straighter shots. I have struggled with my balance on my back swing since I started golfing. The only thing that changed was my shoes, so the stability really helped. My putting and chipping drastically improved with the alignment of the toes”
Breathability
When it came to breathability and performance in wet conditions, the SQAIRZ SPEED BOLD is marketed as a waterproof shoe which often doesn’t jive with breathability. This point was verified by our testers JeremyD and scubahoops.
From Scubahoops : “For me in a hot, dry climate a pair that isn’t 100% waterproof and has some breathability is better, these are still great and the foot heat doesn’t detract from the benefits the shoes offer.”
And from JeremyD : “The only concern is the heat of my feet. They feel hot, but not enough to make a difference in how they fit, nor did I notice any additional sweating that caused my feet to slip”
Blaine Dye chimed in on these topics as well.
“The weatherproof material is great for the muddy and wet golf times, but in the heat of the summer, they are extremely hot. Even though I think these shoes are hot, they are a light shoe. I feel as if my feet cannot breathe. I did notice there is a mesh option that might be a better option.“
The Final Verdict
When on-course testing was completed and the shoes fully broken in, our testers graded them out of 100. The low score was 87 and the high was 92 out of 100.
There were a lot of positive notes on the stability, fit and overall comfort of the SQAIRZ SPEED BOLD golf shoes from our testers. However, there were some areas which they felt could be improved and maybe they didn’t see the improved distance SQAIRZ advertises.
Tester Scubahoops:
“What I can say is that I had a great experience; the shoes look great and feel great. They perform really well, I have documented a minor increase in speed and distance and I will take all I can get. I love the personality of the shoes and the laces, I love that the laces stay put. Most of all I love the confidence I feel when wearing the shoes because I am making better and more consistent contact with the ball than I may ever have. I wish the Bold were more breathable but Sqairz does offer others that are more breathable.
As I said, I noticed an increase in distance and speed but not nearly what is claimed“
Tester Blaine Dye:
“I have enjoyed getting to learn and test out a new brand. I love the look and uniqueness of these shoes. They are just the modern style that everyone is looking for. I can’t stress enough how much stability I get while using these. No matter what the terrain is, I’m not going anywhere. Walking 18 holes in these shoes is no big deal. They are extremely comfortable, and I don’t feel the spikes when I’m walking like I have with other golf shoes. These shoes are lighter than other golf shoes I have had. If you got caught in the rain or just couldn’t wait long enough after the rain, these shoes will keep your feet dry. In the heat of the summer, the shoes have little breathability. The squared toes helped me realize I had no clue how to align my shots! Being able to see the line when I look down to putt has been a complete game changer. “
Tester JeremyD:
“What did I gain from these shoes? I gained incredible stability and traction, and some great comfort for my wide feet. What I didn’t gain was some extra speed and yardages. While everyone is different, I have yet to experience the increased distance and speed I was hoping for…With that being said, the stability gave me more confidence as I stood over the ball.“
