Dr. David Ma, a professor of human nutrition in the College of Biological Science, helped Global News break down Canada’s caffeine safety standards.
In a comparison of energy drinks versus energy shots, Ma said there appears to be a “gap” in regulations between the two.
“There might be some further thought needed to flush out a number of different issues around health, fairness in the marketplace,” he added.
A professor in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, Ma is the director of the Guelph Family Health Study and studies the links between nutrition and cancer.
