In-form Barry Hawkins scored a 4-1 win over world number eight Kyren Wilson to earn his place in the last 16 of the Cazoo British Open in Cheltenham.
Hawkins won his first ranking silverware in seven years at the recent European Masters and has carried that form over to this week, having already scored a 4-0 win over Stan Moody and a 4-1 defeat of Robert Milkins.
Wilson’s last ranking title came at the 2022 European Masters, where he thrashed Hawkins 9-2 in the final. The roles were reversed this afternoon though. Hawkins crafted breaks of 114, 50 and 93 in the win and now plays China’s He Guoqiang.
Mark Selby eased through to the fourth round with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Si Jiahui. The four-time World Champion compiled runs of 81, 70, 110 during the win and now faces David Gilbert, who defeated India’s Ishpreet Singh Chadha 4-1.
