In a similar vein, we spotted a Fenix 7X deal yesterday that was limited to just UK audiences. USA readers were forced to wait a little longer, but we eventually found this Epix Gen 2 deal. A very similar watch, with much the same functionality, but with a crisp AMOLED screen replacing the solar charging on the Fenix.
This too was at its best-ever price, so definitely one to consider if you’re in the market for a top-end sports watch.
Also, for those who think the Fenix 7X is a little too bulky, Will also found the smaller 7 and 7S with a similarly-impressive 30% off.
Month-old Apple tech getting discounted already
Yesterday afternoon, we found that the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which was launched literally a month ago, was already being reduced by $50 in the USA.
At first, there wasn’t a similar deal available for readers in the UK, but then while browsing social media last night, a targeted advert confirmed that Amazon UK had followed suit, bringing the Watch Ultra 2 down from £699.00 to £669.00.
It’s modest, but it’s the best deal available on the highly-sought-after Watch Ultra 2 at the moment.

I’m actually kicking this off earlier than planned this morning. My dogs decided they couldn’t be bothered to go out for their morning walk just yet, so I thought I’d jump into this for an hour or so.

It’s morning here in at Cyclingnews HQ in the UK, and we’re ready to rick-roll once again.
The weather is currently cloudy, and the sun hasn’t quite broken the horizon yet. Official sunrise was just 15 minutes ago so we’re in that dim early-morning phase where you can see, but absolutely still need lights on your bike.
Despite being October the 11th, the temperature is already 16C/61F and it’s rising to a balmy 19C/66F and blazing sunshine later today. Obviously that’s lovely, but also incredibly concerning given there are still people that think global warming is a myth.
Bike locks
There’s nothing out there that will keep your bike 100% safe from determined thieves, but the best bike locks will put up a serious fight, either deterring them, or delaying them long enough for you to intervene (do be careful).
Among the millions of items for sale during this latest Prime Big Deal Days sale, bike locks seem fairly abundant, so we’ve done some digging, as well as cross-referencing our buyers guide to the best bike locks to see what might be worth a portion of your hard-earned paycheck. Hey team. Josh again. Sorry I left… I have a 10-month old puppy and it was time for walkies. I’m sure you care.
Anyway… bike lights. Unfortunately for everyone, except perhaps the puppy (she’s part Husky), it’s getting colder and darker outside. If you want to continue riding you have a few options:
1. Do as I just did, leave during working hours, and ride during the day. Sadly I didn’t have time to ride but you get my point.
2. Ride indoors, as I may get chance to do later this evening 🤞
3. Buy some lights!

Working on your bike is honestly a lot easier with decent, dedicated tools. For years I soldiered on with just a multi-tool and coarse language, before finally getting my hands on a complete dedicated toolbox.
You don’t necessarily need a full toolbox to make your life easier, as for the most jobs you need one of a series of common Allen bolts. Park Tools are one of the biggest names in the bike tool business, are used in bike shops the world over, and have a reputation for quality. It also rarely discount its tools, so to find 34% off a set of T-handle hex wrenches is a real find!
My colleague Tom used to be a professional bike mechanic before he swapped the allen key for a pen (well, a keyboard…) and rates this as a mechanic approved deal.
Do you listen to music when you ride? I always do, and this is what I’d buy if I were you this Prime day:
What I’d buy: 31% off all Shokz headphones
In short, you’re getting a set of headphones that allow you to listen to music while keeping your ear holes unobstructed, meaning you can hear any traffic or hazards far more easily, and therefore have a safer ride. The sound quality isn’t quite so good as standard headphones, but it’s a small price to pay for increased awareness.

Right, anyone who knows me knows I have a bit of a fetish for sunglasses (on-bike and off-bike). Everyone has their kinks, and this is a safe space… Anyway, I’ve tested over 40 pairs of cycling glasses in the last year or two while compiling our guide to the best cycling glasses and have got quite good at sorting the optical wheat from the blurry-visioned chaff.
The big news is that two of my favourite pairs of cycling glasses, both from American brand 100%, are on offer currently. You’ll get varying discounts depending on colour and lens choices, but I’ve found the best ones so you don’t have to.
The S3 are my pick for winter use as you get whopping coverage and a clear lens included for riding in the dark, while the Hypercraft are a featerweight option that comes into its own on steamy climbs or on super cold days when you want to avoid any fogging.
Or just get them ‘cos they look great, but even if you do this you’ll be safe in the knowledge that they’ll perform as well.

Last Prime Day our Tech Writer, Tom, found his favourite lights were reduced. The same thing has happened this Prime Day, but this time the discount is even greater.
The Cateye Orb bar end lights replace your bar ends, making you seem wider from the back for incoming vehicles and are designed as an auxiliary set to a main rear beam. The best thing is that they are discounted, especially in the UK where there’s a whopping 45% off, taking them down to under £11.
I (Will) don’t spend any time riding indoors over winter, doing all my testing in the cold, wet, and dark, so once I get a coffee break from hunting for deals I’m going to buy myself a set if there are any left in stock!

Watch watch
If you liked our Garmin Fenix 7X deal from earlier, this might be up your street too. The Apple Watch Ultra 2, which launched just a month ago, is already being discounted by $50 over in the USA.
This is an iterative update over the original Watch Ultra, but with a few new tricks including the ability to tap your fingers together to control certain functions.

I’ve been actively using the Fenix 7 (not the X, but the middle-sized one) for the past few months and can personally vouch for its impressive feature set, long battery life and comfort.
There is a quirk with the price that Amazon is showing, but it’s still one I’d happily recommend.

Why are we doing this?
Throughout the year, we spend countless hours researching, testing and comparing bike tech to work out what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s ugly. We then spend just as many hours writing those findings up in the form of reviews and buying guides.
See a handful of recent examples:
Among those guides, and any reviews, you’ll find we also integrate links that enable you to head away to retailers to buy the product in question. That is a tool built by our employers which checks availability and then compares prices, as well as other metrics such as conversion rate. It will then share what it thinks is the best place to buy a product that we recommend.
That makes our lives much easier (imagine trying to manually keep track of prices of 1,000s of products every day!).
But price is a significant part of the purchase decision for everyone, so over deal events like Prime Day and Black Friday where discounts are abundant, we keep an extra close eye on the sales to see if any of our favourite pieces of kit are being offered up at better prices.
We also find that quite often, it’s the products we wouldn’t typically recommend at full retail price that get heavily discounted to the point that they become a worthwhile buy.

I’ve been part of the team here since 2019 and have covered every Prime Day and Black Friday since. Given there have been two per year for the past few, I think I’m close to double figures now. That, of course, is alongside helping to test and create our hundreds of helpful buying guides and reviewing countless bits of bike gear across road, gravel and indoors.
