Rankings Update – Huge Lead For Trump

Judd Trump has opened up a vast lead at the top of the one-year ranking list following his victory at the Wuhan Open, his second consecutive ranking title.

Trump beat Ali Carter 10-7 in the final in China on Sunday to become the first player this year to win back-to-back ranking titles, landing a milestone 25th in all. The £140,000 top prize sees him leapfrog Mark Williams into first place on the one-year list with an overall tally of £264,000, almost double the total of Williams who has £139,500.

There are just five counting events to go before the top 32  – as it stands at the end of the BetVictor Scottish Open in December – will qualify for the World Grand Prix in Leicester in January.

Wu Yize: career best run

Carter earned £63,000 as runner-up and he flies up from 19th to fourth. China’s Wu Yize reached the semi-finals of a ranking event for the first time in his career and he’s up from 40th to tenth, while Lyu Haotian was the other losing semi-finalist and he climbs from 30th to eighth. Ronnie O’Sullivan reached the quarter-finals and boosted his chances of a World Grand Prix spot as he’s up from 71st to 28th. Mark Allen also made the last eight and he jumps from 51st to 22nd.

Aaron Hill is currently ‘on the bubble’ in 32nd place with £20,000. Several big names are outside the top 32, notably World Champion Luca Brecel in 54th and he has just four events to climb the list as he has not entered the next ranking event, the BetVictor Northern Ireland Open. Neil Robertson is yet to reach the last 32 of a ranking event this season and he’s down in 86th.

On the official two-year list, Trump climbs one place to third, moving above Mark Allen. Carter remains 11th, while Lyu is up five spots to 36th and Wu rises from 49th to 37th. O’Sullivan remains the world number one, on an 18-month unbroken run as top dog, with a lead of £17,500 over Brecel. The two-year list will now be used as the seeding list for the BetVictor Scottish Open, with the draw to be announced soon.

There are just three remaining counting events in the Race to the 2024 Masters, with the top 16 at the end of the UK Championship to earn a place at Alexandra Palace in January. The key battle for 16th place between Ding Junhui and Hossein Vafaei continues, with Ding now £6,500 ahead.
