Readers’ poll to pick the Savannah Morning News Football Player of Week

Week 9 of the high school football season in the Greater Savannah area had a few teams taking bye weeks, but there were some big wins and strong individual performances on Friday night.

Bryan County took another step toward its first-ever region title, while Effingham County won its fourth in a row and Benedictine extended its winning streak to 19 games.

Here’s a chance for readers to weigh in and select the Savannah Morning News Football Player of the Week. Voting ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Here are this week’s nominees.

The senior had a career-high 220 yards and a touchdown on 34 carries in Bryan County’s win over Screven County.

Nate Hayes, Effingham County

The senior had three touchdown passes, including a 99-yarder to Lamar Roberts, and added a 22-yard scoring run in a win at Evans.

Luke Kromenhoek, Benedictine

The senior was 10-of-17 passing for 146 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 50 yards on seven carries in a win over SE Bulloch.

RaShawn Truell, New Hampstead

The junior threw for 325 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a loss to Wayne County.

Thomas Peters, Bethesda

The senior ran back an interception 102 yards for a touchdown and had three receptions for 69 yards and another score in a win over Northside Christian.

Areyion Guyton, Benedictine

The junior had 11 tackles, including six for losses, and a quarterback pressure in the win over SE Bulloch.

Jaylen Hampton, New Hampstead

The senior had nine catches for 121 yards in the loss to Wayne County.

Triston Randall, Bethesda

The senior was 8-of-15 passing for 176 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 37 yards and a score on six carries and added seven tackles in the win over Northside Christian.

Jayaun Albert, Jenkins

The senior rushed for more than 100 yards on 11 carries, including touchdown runs of 52 and 35 yards, in a win over Greenbrier.
