The perplexing situation surrounding Evan Fournier’s limited playing time with the New York Knicks has caught the attention of fellow French basketball star Rudy Gobert.
Fournier, who has openly expressed frustration, was notably sidelined by Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau for a significant portion of the last season, despite being healthy.
Gobert voiced his support for Fournier, acknowledging the shooting guard as the Knicks’ top 3-point shooter. Gobert emphasized the crucial role Fournier can play in bolstering any team.
Expressing dismay at the apparent lack of communication between Fournier and his coach, Gobert labeled the situation as “disrespectful,” per Stefan Bondy of New York Post.
However, he remains optimistic that Fournier will soon find his stride, securing the playing time he deserves and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the court.
So far in preseason, Fournier has been given a chance to play. He appeared in two games for the Knicks, playing 21 and 19 minutes and scoring 11 and 15 points against the Celtics and Timberwolves respectively.
