Kota Kinabalu: The 14th TKC Invitational Snooker Championship organised by The Kinabalu Club (TKC) is scheduled to take place at its clubhouse here from November 16-26.
Tournament Director, Dr Brandon Patrick Senagang, who is also a certified Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) snooker referee, said the total prize money remains RM10,000 this year.
The champion will receive RM4,500 with the runner-up getting RM2,000 ,RM500 and RM250 each for the losing semi-finalists and quarter finalists respectively while those making the last 16 are also entitled to receive RM100 each.
There will also be the highest break (above 60 points) cash prize of RM500 in addition to the highest century break prize of RM700.
According to Brandon, the main purpose of the competition is to help promoting the sport.
“This single knock-out tournament is open only to residents in Sabah with a registration fee at RM70.

“Students below 18-year-old are free to participate in our efforts to encourage more youngsters to take up the sport,” he said at a press conference on Saturday.

Meanwhile, defending champion Jamal Jailani and last year’s runners-up Sheldon Senagang are among the top names expected to take part in the 11-day tournament.
