MAYVILLE – Say goodbye to renting a golf cart, carrying your golf clubs from hole to hole or worrying about the weather. And there is not any rule letting faster golfers play through.
McDuffers in Mayville has you covered – literally and figuratively.
Located inside the Chautauqua Suites Hotel and Expo Center, 215 W. Lake Road, both Julie and Jason Dudley, McDuffers co-owners, and Mayville residents, said that the hotel location was key.

“We live right here in Mayville,” Jason Dudley said. “I thought it was a good location, being in the hotel.”
The virtual golf course opened at the end of September, and a grand opening was held in October. It has two bays in which golfers can tee off, and the simulator can accommodate both right- and left-handers. Golfers can choose from more than 200 real golf courses – both foreign and domestic – as well as a driving range.

Jason Dudley said the winter months probably are going to be the busiest as patrons may want to get out of their residences.
To play, golfers must first interact with the kiosk that will allow them to pick courses, and receive any last-minute instructions. Once on the tee, golfers can look at the screen and see the lay of the hole, see wind direction, see temperature updates, plus receive shot orientation tips. When on a real golf course, golfers can set up the shot by adjusting their stances. In the simulator, the screen will rotate, but the golfer remains in the same position.
If a golfer tees off and lands off fairway, there are simulated roughs, bunkers, and sand traps of which the golfer would place the ball and hit from those spots. The simulated fairways, roughs, bunkers, and sand traps all have a feel and different colored artificial turf markings. The simulator tells the golfer where to place the ball.
“If you are on the course, playing, and don’t put the ball where you are supposed to, it (the simulator) will actually penalize you,” Jason Dudley said.
According to mcdufferschq.com, here are some other features:
Moving Swing Plate – the platform moves dynamically to provide a true-to-life feel, so you can practice your swing in an environment that mimics the real world.
High Speed Camera Sensors – record your swing and receive immediate feedback on key metrics like ball speed and trajectory to help you fine-tune your technique and improve accuracy.
Auto Tee and Ball Retrieval – golfers will be able to focus on perfecting their swings and sinking hole-in-ones, without having to chase stray golf balls across the room again.
Virtual Caddie – technology will provide you with helpful tools, personalized hints on how to hit the ball, and which clubs are best for your swing.
A Green Mini-Map – essentially a visual representation of the golf course that provides information on the putting green area. It includes information about the contours, slopes, and other features of the green that may affect a golfer’s putting.
Real-Time Swing Analysis – provides the launch angle, face angle, ball speed, and driving distance for every shot.
Customizable Setup Choices – includes difficulty, weather, and playing conditions.
Training Mode Option – includes a thorough analysis and addresses aspects such as driving distance, carry distance, and ball speed and direction.
