Kota Kinabalu: Sheldon Senagang won his seventh title at the 14th TKC Invitational Snooker Championship 2023 held at the Kinabalu Club from November 16-26.
He defeated 2019 champion Nealson Low 5-3 in the final to take home the RM4,500 cash prize while Nealson had to settle for RM2,000.
Sheldon, who was the losing finalist last year and last won the title in 2018, had earlier defeated former champion Rasid Mambalusan in the semi-final while Nealson edged defending champion Jamal Jailani in the other tie to book a place in the final.
Both losing semi-finalists each received RM500. RM250 were also given to each of the quarter-finalists Kor Soon Mun, Lee Vui Fah, Larry Hiew and Teo Kin Vui while the last 16 players who received RM100 each were Patrick Ng, Jumiadi Jihin, Dickson Siau, Bryan Tsen, Jason Ng, Chaim Tat Fui, Kok Jken Yung and Eric Chong.
Tournament director Brandon Patrick said the tournament this year saw a total of 64 players from all over Sabah including Beaufort, Kuala Penyu and Tawau competing.
He was also delighted to see more under 30-year-old players taking part and he hoped the tournament would continue to attract more Sabahans in their effort to promote the sport.
