CSCAA Division III Poll Led By Emory Men, Kenyon Women
This season in NCAA Division III swimming and diving, Emory will be aiming for a fourth consecutive men’s national title while Kenyon goes for three straight on the women’s side. Early on in the season, both teams look like the favorites after easily topping the inaugural edition of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) top-25 dual meet poll.
Emory’s men received 400 points in the initial poll, with Chicago (380) taking second and MIT (365) third. The rest of the top-10 includes Kenyon, NYU, Williams, Carnegie Melon, Denison, WashU and Tufts. After winning last year’s title by 43 points over Kenyon, Emory’s team this year is led by Crow Thorsen, a senior who is the defending national champion in the 400 IM.
Kenyon’s women will go for another title with sophomore distance freestyler Bengisu Caymaz, the defending national champion in the 500 and 1650, plus the national-title-winning senior breaststroke duo of Jennah Fadely and Gabriella Wei pacing the team. Kenyon’s 394 points finished first in the women’s poll, followed by Emory (378), NYU (371), Denison, MIT, Williams, Chicago, Pomona-Pitzer, Tufts and Johns Hopkins.
The CSCAA rankings are voted upon by coaches in each division using data including head-to-head dual meet results, recent performances, full-season achievements and data from the SwimCloud Simulator.
