The latest snooker rankings update follows the conclusion of the 2024 UK Championship, the season’s ninth ranking tournament.
Judd Trump beat Barry Hawkins 10-8 in what proved to be an entertaining finale to the campaign’s opening Triple Crown tournament at the Barbican Centre.
It marked the first UK glory for Trump since 2011, a victory that simultaneously took his career tally of ranking titles to an impressive 30.
Let’s take a look at how the results at the UK Championship impacted the various snooker rankings lists.
Top 16 and the Race to the Masters
In recent years, the UK Championship has become the cut-off point on the calendar for securing an invitation to the prestigious Masters invitational.
One of the subplots, therefore, inevitably surrounds which players can move into the top 16 and guarantee their involvement at the Alexandra Palace in January.
Barry Hawkins began the week in York outside the elite bracket, but by reaching the final he comfortably regained his status among the top 16.
The Hawk, who became the first player to appear in all three Triple Crown finals without having ever landed a piece of silverware from the series, rises to 13th in the standings ahead of Si Jiahui, John Higgins, and Chris Wakelin.
Among the high-profile players who aren’t in the Masters draw are former champion Neil Robertson and World Championship runner-up Jak Jones.
Xiao Guodong, who had been in 16th spot before play got under way at the Barbican Centre, was punished for exiting in the first round and dropped to 19th.
Judd Trump, of course, extended his lead as the world number one and isn’t that far off reaching an incredible £2 million two-year milestone.
Kyren Wilson remains in second ahead of Mark Selby and Ronnie O’Sullivan, with 2022 UK champion Mark Allen dropping to fifth.
Mark Williams and Luca Brecel continue to occupy the sixth and seventh spots respectively with Shaun Murphy and Ding Junhui swapping places in eighth and ninth.
Zhang Anda completes the top ten who will each be invited to the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship in Saudi Arabia later this month, while world numbers 11 and 12 Gary Wilson and Ali Carter just miss out on qualification for that lucrative invitational.
Who were the other movers?
Three players qualified for the UK Championship from the very first preliminary round, boosting their positions in the snooker rankings.
Michael Holt, competing in the first year of his two-year card, was the biggest beneficiary – advancing 17 places to number 81 – while He Guoqiang moved up six spots to number 54.
Sam Craigie, who reached the UK Championship quarter-finals in 2022, hasn’t played at all this season and has now slipped outside the world’s top 64.

1-year snooker rankings
The top 32 from the one-year list qualify for the World Grand Prix, which will take place in Hong Kong for the first time in the new year.
Beyond that, the top 16 will feature at the Players Championship and the top 12 at the Tour Championship.
With an astonishing haul of £940,200 in earnings from this term already, Judd Trump will obviously feature in all three of those lucrative events.
Barry Hawkins is also well-positioned to go all the way to the Tour Championship, with the £100,000 runner-up cheque from York helping him rise to ninth in these standings.
A poor run of form for Ronnie O’Sullivan has seen him drop to 17th, putting his participation at the Players and Tour Championships in jeopardy.
Yuan Sijun currently holds onto the 32nd and final ticket to the World Grand Prix.
The only current member of the top 16 who is set to miss out on all three events as it stands is Luca Brecel.
The Belgian Bullet lost in the first round of another ranking event and languishes way down in 85th place on the one-year snooker rankings list.

The 2024 Snooker Shoot Out will be the next tournament on the calendar that will have an impact on the rankings.
The controversial lightning-paced competition begins on Wednesday and runs until Saturday, December 7th in Leicester.
