10 Things That Scream ‘Swimmer?’

A Swimmer’s Starter Pack: What Screams ‘Swimmer?’

There are some things that just scream, “you’re a swimmer!” If swimmers had a starter pack, what do you think would be in it? Read along to see what critical items swimmers can’t live without, and what common looks identify a typical competitive swimmer.

Equipment Bag

It’s not often that you see a swimmer walking around without an equipment bag. Swimmers use gear every day whether they are at practice or warming up for a meet. Swim gear such as fins, paddles, a pull buoy and a kickboard are essential to a swimmer’s everyday training.

Practice Suits

Swimmers love to wear all sorts of training suits. Between all the different brands, colors and patterns, you are bound to find several different suits in every swimmer’s bag or locker.

Tech Suits

Tech suits are vital for swimmers when it comes time to taper and shave for an important meet. Although these suits are a hassle to put on, swimmers usually enjoy racing in a tech suit because it makes them feel extra fast, and provides an advantage for optimum speed.

Raccoon Eyes

After a two-hour long practice, many swimmers will form circles around their eyes from wearing their goggles. As unfortunate as it may sound, this look is an easy way to spot out a swimmer.

Chlorine Smell

The smell of chlorine is one thing that swimmers just can’t get rid of. From swimming every day, sometimes twice a day, the smell of chlorine constantly radiates, making it a swimmer’s everyday perfume/ cologne.

Swimmer’s Shampoo/Conditioner

Chlorine can be damaging to your hair, which is why it is so important that swimmers maintain their hair with quality products. Using swimmer’s shampoo and conditioner is fundamental for swimmers in order to sustain a healthy head of hair.

Chlorine never fails to dry out every swimmer’s skin. Skincare products and lotion are the best options for swimmers to use on their dry, red and irritated skin. Swimmers should always have these moisturizers on hand.

Parka

Swimmers LOVE their parkas. Whether they are walking around on a warm pool deck, or outside in the middle of winter, you will never fail to catch a swimmer wearing their parka. A long and warm parka can definitely be found in a swimmer’s starter pack.

Water Shoes

Obviously, swimmers are around water all the time. It is common to see swimmers sporting their favorite pair of waterproof shoes such as Crocs, Birkenstocks, slides or flip-flops!

We have all seen it and written it before. Young age group swimmers love to write on each other’s arms, legs and back in sharpie! Whether you write your heat and lane, or a funny and lighthearted phrase, being covered in sharpie as a young swimmer is a commonality.

I hope you enjoyed unboxing the swimmer starter pack! What else might you find? Comment down below!
