Xander Schauffele’s WITB Breakdown: Should You Play His Clubs?

We analyzed Xander Schauffele’s bag, comparing his gear to our 2024 Most Wanted Equipment testing results. Here’s Schauffele’s WITB with the additional benefit of analyzing whether these clubs could be right for your game.

Xander Schauffele WITB (December 2024): At a glance

Schauffele is a Callaway staff player but he does sneak a few Titleist and even a Mizuno golf clubs into the mix.

  • Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond (10.5˚)
  • Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond 3-Wood (16.5˚)
  • Mizuno MP-20 HMB 3-Iron
  • Callaway Apex TCB’24 (4-10)
  • Callaway Opus Wedge (52˚)
  • Titleist Vokey Design SM10 (57˚)
  • Titleist Vokey Design SM10 (60˚)
  • Odyssey Toulon Design Las Vegas Prototype 7CH Putter
  • Grips: Golf Pride MCC Align
  • Ball: Callaway Chrome Tour

Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Driver

The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond is made with the “Tour” player in mind. However, when amateur golfers hit thousands of shots with this driver in our 2024 testing, it proved to be a great choice

As the runner-up for the best golf driver of 2024, the Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond is a great choice for those who look for extra distance. It was in our top-five for carry and total distance for 34 percent of the test pool.

We also found the Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond to be versatile. It placed in the top 10 for accuracy and forgiveness.

The Triple Diamond is slightly undersized at 450cc so it has more of a “better player” profile.

Bottom Line: A perfect opportunity to play with a club the pros play. Get fitted and you’ll be surprised at how well the Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond fits the needs of the amateur player.

Fairway wood: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond

The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond is Schauffele’s choice for a 3-wood. It was also the best overall fairway wood of 2024 in our testing. Not only is the Ai Smoke Triple Diamond fairway long but it is accurate, a combination we don’t see often.

There are hardly any downsides to the Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Fairway. However, we will tell you that it’s a low-spin club. If you are a low-spin player, get fitted to ensure the launch conditions are correct for your game.

Bottom Line: Green light on the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond! It checks the boxes for amateur players and professionals and was the best fairway wood tested in 2024.

Irons and wedges

Schauffele plays the Callaway Apex TCB irons. They were not included in our best player’s irons of 2024 test as they were released in October 2024 when testing was complete. The ’24 TCB uses a 1025 tour cavity-back body with a 17-4 tuned face. The goal is to provide better players with consistent spin and control while maintaining the best feel.

The Callaway Apex Pro player’s iron was included in our 2024 Best Player’s iron test, and won best for distance performance.

Xander Schauffele

Schauffele’s wedges include the Callaway Opus and the Titleist Vokey SM10. The Vokey SM10 wedges are the most accurate of 2024 third overall in our test.

Players love the look, sound and feel of the Vokey wedges. The Callaway Opus wedge didn’t do as well. It placed 24th out of 26 wedges. It struggled with consistency.

Bottom Line: The Vokey design wedges are never the cheapest on the market but the pros like them for a reason. They look, sound and feel great while providing “Tour-level” spin performance around the greens. The Opus wedge may work for Schauffel, but the results for amateurs were not great.

Putter: Odyssey Toulon Design Las Vegas Prototype 7CH

The Odyssey Toulon Design Las Vegas CH prototype putter is one that you won’t get your hands on. However, it works for Schauffle. He is one of the best for avoiding three-putts and had to make quite a few putts in 2024 to earn 12th overall for Strokes Gained putting.

Final thoughts

This Xander Schauffele WITB shows that the best equipment for pros can sometimes be the best for the amateurs. If you are considering testing something Schauffele plays, try the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond driver and fairway wood. It performs well for amateurs and professionals.
