Katerina Siniakova is the ultimate doubles partner. All she does is win.
The Czech claimed her tenth major women’s doubles title on Sunday, pairing with American Taylor Townsend to defeat Jelena Ostapenko and Hsieh Su-Wei 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-3 in an entertaining final on Sunday.
Siniakova, who has now won two of her major titles with Townsend, is the first woman to reach the double-digit Slam title mark since Martina Hingis, who won her 10th of 13 major double titles at Wimbledon in 2015.
“This journey, I mean, it’s a roller coaster, and I love it,” Siniakova said of her partnership with Townsend. “She’s amazing girl. Yeah, as she said, I am totally vivid. I’m enjoying it. We are friends. Today exactly the match showed that we are helping each other, and I love it.”
Siniakova lost in the first round of singles to Iga Swiatek; Townsend lost to Mexico’s Renata Zarazua.
Townsend and Siniakova won the Wimbledon title together last year. The Czech has won seven women’s doubles major titles with Barbora Krejcikova, and one with Coco Gauff.
The pair are 15-1 together at the Grand Slams.
