Stefano Vukov’s Suspension “Will Remain In Place”

By Chris Oddo | @TheFanChild | Tuesday February 11, 2025

Stefano Vukov’s provisional suspension will remain in place indefinitely.

More: Rybakina in Limbo, as Vukov Faces Provisional Suspension from WTA Tour

The WTA Tour made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that its independent investigation into a “potential breach of the WTA Code” has concluded, and the former coach of Elena Rybakina will still be barred from coaching on tour.

Tennis Express

“The WTA confirms that the independent investigation into a potential breach of the WTA Code of Conduct by Stefano Vukov has concluded,” the WTA said in a statement, which was shared on X by tennis journalist Reem Abulleil.

The WTA has declined to give any further information on the case to protect the confidentiality of those involved.

“Following this process, the suspension remains in place,” the statement reads. “To protect the confidentiality and integrity of the investigation and its findings, the WTA will not provide further details. We remain committed to ensuring that all matters are handled in a fair and objective manner in accordance with the WTA Code of Conduct.”

For those unfamiliar with the case, the WTA announced that it had provisionally suspended Vukov in January, when Rybakina attempted to bring her back to her team. The decision by Rybakina, who was then being coached by Goran Ivanisevic after parting ways with Vukov in 2024, caught many by surprise.

The provisional suspension barred Vukov from gaining a credential to sanctioned events.

Rybakina and Vukov parted ways last August after five productive years that yielded a Wimbledon title, but also speculation that the coach was abusive to his player. These reports have been denied vehemently by Rybakina, however.

No word yet from Rybakina, who is currently playing in Doha – she advance with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Peyton Stearns on Tuesday and will face Rebecca Sramkova in the round of 16 on Wednesday.
