The must-know details of F1’s 2025 season launch

Formula 1 is set to make history on Tuesday with the launch-presentation of its 2025 season at the much-anticipated F1 75 Live event.

Hosted at London’s iconic O2 Arena, the event promises to be a dazzling evening, bringing all ten teams, their drivers and team principals together under one roof for the first time in the sport’s history.

With the unique spectacle aimed at boosting the sport’s mainstream appeal and building excitement for the upcoming F1 season, here’s what fans can expect from the dedicated happening that will kick off the sport’s 75th anniversary.

An All-In-One Season Launch Event

Traditionally, Formula 1 teams have always launched their cars and liveries independently, often accompanied by press releases or smaller events tailored to their sponsors and fans.

However, this week’s F1 75 Live event will see every team unveil their liveries in one central, televised extravaganza.

The O2 Arena, which will welcome a sell-out crowd of 15,000 spectators, will set the stage for the event, which begins at 8:00 PM GMT (9:00 PM CET – 3:00 Pm EST).

Fans worldwide can also tune in, as the event will be broadcast live by Formula 1’s official broadcasters and streamed across its social media platforms.

Rather than presenting their fully developed 2025 designs, the teams will showcase show cars featuring their 2025 liveries.

This approach not only accommodates manufacturing timelines but also safeguards sensitive technical details from rival teams as the competition tightens in Formula 1’s hyper-competitive midfield.

Star-Studded Lineups

Livery reveals are a yearly highlight for F1 enthusiasts, eager to see which teams embrace bold, fresh designs and which stick to tradition. It’s worth noting, however, that teams rarely surprise, with most outfits opting for a conservative approach to creativity.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has already hinted that the team may continue with its striking black livery, which has become an icon of the sport.

Similarly, it will be interesting to see if Alpine will stick with its signature pink accents or if any teams will deliver surprising design twists. Last year, Kick Sauber’s green-and-black scheme was the talk of the paddock.

Adding to the excitement, this event will mark Lewis Hamilton’s first official public appearance as a Ferrari driver.

The seven-time world champion’s move to the Scuderia after a 12-year stint with Mercedes is one of the biggest storylines heading into 2025, and the seven-time world champion’s supporters are impatient to see their man racing in red this season.

Rookies in the Spotlight

F1 75 Live will also introduce fans to a fresh wave of talent, with several exciting rookies preparing to make their Formula 1 debuts this season.

Among them are Kimi Antonelli, stepping into the high-pressure role of replacing Hamilton at Mercedes, and Ollie Bearman, who moves into a full-time seat at Haas following his impressive substitute appearances last year.

Additionally, reigning Formula 2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto will join Kick Sauber, while runner-up Isack Hadjar has secured a seat at Racing Bulls. Finally, Jack Doohan will also undertake his first full season in F1 with Alpine.

Meanwhile, established names like Nico Hülkenberg and Esteban Ocon will debut with new teams – Sauber and Haas respectively, and Red Bull has reshuffled its lineup, pairing reigning world champion Max Verstappen with Liam Lawson.

With so many changes, fans are looking forward to observing the dynamics between new teammates and seeing how the rookies adapt to the top tier of motorsport.

Entertainment and Star Power

F1 75 Live isn’t just about the cars and drivers. The event promises an evening of entertainment, featuring special guest presenters and creative input from some of the biggest names in event production.

Led by Brian Burke, the mastermind behind the spectacular Las Vegas Grand Prix ceremonies, and renowned partners like Stufish Entertainment Architects, the night is set to deliver a visually stunning experience.

The decision to centralize the season launch is part of Liberty Media’s effort to capitalize on Formula 1’s growing global audience.

The event is designed to appeal to casual fans by offering an accessible, dynamic glimpse into the sport.

A Double-Edged Sword for Smaller Teams?

While the collective launch promises to boost Formula 1’s profile, some critics have pointed out the potential downsides for smaller teams.

Traditionally, teams like Williams and Haas have been able to dominate headlines on their launch days, building momentum and attention for their sponsors.

At F1 75 Live, their moment in the spotlight will be brief, overshadowed by the likes of Hamilton’s Ferrari debut and the Red Bull dynamic.

This trade-off highlights the challenges of balancing commercial opportunities with equitable exposure for all teams. For now, the focus remains on the event’s overall spectacle and its ability to engage a wider audience.

Setting the Stage for 2025

F1 75 Live represents Formula 1’s ambition to push boundaries and capture the imagination of fans around the world.

By bringing all 10 teams together for a single launch, the sport is creating a landmark event that celebrates its global appeal, star power, and relentless innovation.

As the countdown to the 2025 season continues, all eyes will be on the O2 Arena next week.

Whether you’re tuning in to see each team’s fresh look, the rookies ready to make their mark, or the drivers’ first interactions with their new outfits, F1 75 Live promises to be a captivating prelude to the battles that lie ahead on the track.
