BATON ROUGE — LSU football coach Brian Kelly is feeling confident about his team’s chances against No. 8 Florida State in Orlando at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on ABC.
During his opening radio show of the season on Thursday, Kelly declared, “We’re gonna go beat the heck out of Florida State.”
Sunday’s season opener against the Seminoles is a rematch of last year’s wild matchup in New Orleans that resulted in a 24-23 victory for Florida State.
LSU was an extra point away from tying the game and sending it to overtime with no time remaining in regulation. But Damian Ramos’ kick was blocked by Florida State defensive back Shyheim Brown, sealing the win for Florida State.
Despite the disappointing defeat, LSU bounced back to win 10 games and the SEC West in Kelly’s first season in Baton Rouge.
