De Minaur Taps Career-High and France Has the Two Youngest Players in the Top-50

By Chris Oddo | @TheFanChild | Monday July 15, 2024

It has been a brilliant 2024 season for Alex de Minaur. He made his Top-10 debut in January and has claimed two titles and earned a 36-12 record thus far. Though a devastating hip injury pulled him out of Wimbledon before his quarterfinal with Novak Djokovic, the 25-year-old still emerges from the Championships with a career-high ranking.

De Minaur rises three spots to No.6 in the world. The man they call the Demon is one of a record 10 Aussies inside this week’s Top 100.

De Minaur isn’t the only one making a big jump this week in the ATP rankings. Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, who reached his maiden Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon (defeated by Djokovic) jumps nine spots to No.16 (one shy of his career-high), while Frenchmen Arthur Fils jumps six spots to a career-high 28 and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard fies up 14 spots to a career-high of 44.

Mpetshi Perricard, who reached the round of 16 as a Lucky Loser on his Wimbledon main draw debut, and Fils, who also reached the round of 16, are the two youngest players in the ATP’s Top-50.

Roberto Bautista Agut is the biggest riser inside the ATP’s Top 100. The 36-year-old, who reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon, is up 37 spots to No.75.

The ATP’s Top-5 remained the same this week, with Jannik Sinner still holding a lead of 1110 points over No.2 Novak Djokovic. Carlos Alcaraz, 2024 Wimbledon champion, stays at No.3.
