Tennis at Paris Olympics: Headline doubles teams and confirmed doubles pairings, including Carlos Alcaraz, Rafael Nadal

While the singles action will take centre stage at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, there will also be plenty of stars competing in the doubles.

A total of 41 nations will be represented in the tennis event at the Games and there will be medal opportunities in men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

There will be 32 teams in the men’s and women’s doubles, with 16 in the mixed doubles.

The men’s and women’s teams have already been confirmed, while the mixed doubles pairings will be revealed on Wednesday, July 24.

We run through all the men’s and women’s doubles teams and pick out six blockbuster pairings to keep an eye out for…

Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal (Spain)

The Spanish dream team, as one of the all-time greats joins forces with a potential all-time great in the making.

Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz will be the star attraction in the doubles event and will have their eyes on gold at a venue where both have enjoyed success.

Nadal is a record 14-time winner at Roland-Garros while Alcaraz lifted his first French Open title earlier this season.

Dan Evans and Andy Murray (Great Britain)

Great Britain’s other pairing of doubles specialists Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski might have a better shot at winning gold, but Andy Murray and Dan Evans should be a fun team to watch.

Depending how Murray fares in singles his final appearance on a tennis court could also come in the doubles.

Murray and Evans will be hoping to go further than they did at the French Open when they were beaten in the first round.

Katie Boulter and Heather Watson (Great Britain)

Heather Watson will partner British No. 1 Katie Boulter for Great Britain in the women’s doubles.

It will be a fourth Olympics appearance for Watson, 32, while Boulter is making her debut and is also playing in the singles.

Felix Auger-Aliassime and Milos Raonic (Canada)

After their first Davis Cup win in 2022, will Canada make a mark in the tennis event at the Olympics?

Felix Auger-Aliassime was one of the standout players in the Davis Cup-winning team and will partner big-serving Milos Raonic in a strong-looking doubles pairing at the Games.

Raonic will be returning to the Olympic Games for the first time in over a decade, after making his debut at London 2012.

Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti (Italy)

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner starred for Italy in singles and doubles as they won the Davis Cup last year.

In doubles he teamed up with Lorenzo Sonego, but at the Olympics he will join forces with Lorenzo Musetti.

Musetti is coming off the back of a run to the Wimbledon semi-finals.

Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani (Italy)

Jasmine Paolini has enjoyed a breakthrough season after reaching back-to-back finals at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Now up to No. 5 in the world rankings, Paolini should be among the favourites to medal at the Games.

In the doubles she will be joined by veteran Sara Errani, who partnered Paolini to the doubles final at the French Open last month.

Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula (USA)

After enjoying plenty of success together in doubles over the last few years, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula have been trying out new partners in recent months.

That paid off for Gauff at the French Open as she won the title alongside Katerina Siniakova.

But Gauff and Pegula will be back together for the Games and should be one of the top teams.

Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic)

Will Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova defend their doubles title?

They must start as favourites given their success together (seven Grand Slam doubles titles as well as gold in Tokyo) and their recent form.

Krejcikova comes into the Games on the back of winning the Wimbledon singles title while Siniakova won the French Open and Wimbledon doubles titles with different partners.
