Wuhan Open: 2024 draw, preview, prize money, how to watch

The 2024 Wuhan Open commences on Sunday with world number one Judd Trump and world champion Kyren Wilson among the stars in the draw.

Five ranking events during the 2024/25 snooker season so far have produced five different champions, so it will be interesting to see if that trend continues in China next week.

A preliminary phase for the round of 128 was already held in Leicester towards the end of July, so much of the last 64 is already known.

The tournament, which was staged for the first time a year ago with Trump emerging with the silverware, has already been impacted by several high-profile withdrawals, however.

Ronnie O’Sullivan and David Gilbert have pulled out of the 2024 Wuhan Open draw citing medical reasons, while Mark Allen has also withdrawn due to a family-related illness.

This tournament runs from October 6-12 with the final taking place on a Saturday.

2024 Wuhan Open prize money

Champion: £140,000
Runner-up: £63,000
Semi-Finals: £30,000
Quarter-Finals: £16,000
Round of 16: £12,000
Round of 32: £8,000
Round of 64: £4,500
Highest Break: £5,000
TOTAL: £700,000

Who are the favourites in the 2024 Wuhan Open draw?

Trump and Wilson are among a small group of players who had their opening matches in the competition held over to the venue stages.

Trump begins his title defence against Polish rookie Antoni Kowalski and is 9/4 to secure a repeat Wuhan victory, with Wilson in action first against Welsh teenager Liam Davies.

The world champion beat Trump to claim the Xi’an Grand Prix, the first ranking title of the season in China.

Ding Junhui will be hoping to kick start what has been a desperate start to this campaign for the Chinese sensation when he encounters Robbie McGuigan.

Among the other marquee players already through to the last 64 are English Open champion Neil Robertson, who is the second favourite in the outright market while priced at 4/1.

British Open runner-up John Higgins and Shanghai Masters finalist Shaun Murphy are also through to the last 64.

Mark Selby and Luca Brecel were high-profile casualties when the qualifiers took place at the Mattioli Arena several weeks ago.
