Teeth of the Dog Golf Course Set for Major Restoration – Golf News

Casa de Campo’s legendary golf course, Teeth of the Dog, renowned as the #1 course in the Caribbean and one of the best in the world, is set to undergo a major restoration starting in January 2025.

This iconic course, which originally opened in 1971 and was designed by legendary architect Pete Dye, will be closed to the public throughout 2025 for a comprehensive renovation, led by the acclaimed Jerry Pate Design team. The project is aimed at modernising the course while preserving Dye’s distinctive and celebrated design.

The Teeth of the Dog course, famous for its seven stunning seaside holes along the Dominican Republic coastline known as the “Heaven 7,” draws thousands of avid golfers every year, all eager to tackle its unique challenges and breathtaking views.

The restoration will involve a complete re-grassing with Dynasty Paspalum, a resilient grass particularly well-suited to the seaside climate.

The renovation will also include enhancements to tees, fairways, and greens, along with improvements to paths, bunkers, and contours, ensuring the course remains both challenging and visually stunning for years to come.

The extensive restoration project aims to not only revitalise the course but also to enhance its playability and aesthetic appeal for modern golfers, all while staying true to Pete Dye’s original vision.

“The Teeth of the Dog holds a special place in the hearts of golfers around the world,” said a Casa de Campo spokesperson. “We’re thrilled to see this legendary course reach new heights under Jerry Pate Design’s guidance, and we’re confident it will continue to inspire awe and admiration.”

While the Teeth of the Dog will be temporarily closed, golfers visiting Casa de Campo will still have access to two exceptional alternatives: Dye Fore and The Links. Dye Fore, often regarded as “the most underrated course in the Caribbean,” features 27 holes set across rugged terrain, cliffside fairways above the Chavón River, and panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.

Meanwhile, The Links offers a more traditional experience with rolling hills, lagoons, and challenging bunkers, providing plenty of options for all skill levels.

The revitalised Teeth of the Dog course is scheduled to reopen in December 2025, and anticipation is already building.

Golfers worldwide are eagerly awaiting the chance to experience this legendary course once again, with Casa de Campo confident that the renovations will set a new benchmark for golf in the Caribbean.

Teeth of the Dog will re-open in late 2025
