World Snooker Federation General Assembly 2024

The World Snooker Federation (WSF), the global amateur arm of the WPBSA, held its 2024 General Assembly online on Friday 6 December 2024.

The meeting was opened by WSF President Jason Ferguson, who welcomed delegates and friends from member federations around the globe.

The independently audited accounts were presented by Treasurer Mike Peachey and unanimously approved by the members, which once again confirmed that the WSF remains in a strong and robust position entering 2025.

The Board acknowledged the success of the 2024 WSF Championships held in Albania, at which Hong Kong China’s Ka Wai Cheung and Hungary’s Bulcsú Révész triumphed to qualify for the professional World Snooker Tour for the first time.

Ferguson recognised the tireless work of those who have staged not only this event, but previous WSF Championships in Australia, England and Malta.

An update was also delivered as to the ongoing work to organise the upcoming 2025 WSF Championships in Morocco and highlighted the invaluable contribution of Mourad Mahi of Morocco Snooker, who has been heavily involved in preparations for the event.

The President closed the meeting by acknowledging the hardship of people around the world at this time, including those affected by natural disasters such as the recent floods in Spain, as well as the recent passing of former world champion Terry Griffiths.

Jason Ferguson, WSF President said: “I would like to thank the many delegates from around the world who gave us their time today to attend this year’s WSF General Assembly.

“It was heartening to see so many familiar faces, all of whom have contributed to the growth of our sport for many years, and in some cases those who we have fond memories of working with at previous successful WSF Championships.

“The next staging of this prestigious event is now rapidly approaching and already I am excited to see who will follow in the footsteps of our former champions who have achieved the significant milestone of lifting the title to earn their place on the World Snooker Tour.

“At the WSF we firmly believe in the staging of elite level events that are inclusive and open to all, providing the opportunity to aspiring players around the world to take the next step in their careers and turn professional.

“I look forward to seeing everybody in person in Morocco at what promises to be a stunning location for the WSF Championships.”
