German Masters: 2025 draw, preview, prize money, how to watch

The 2025 German Masters commences on Monday with the likes of world number one Judd Trump and world champion Kyren Wilson in the draw.

A total of 64 contenders were due to cue up at the Tempodrom in Berlin for what is one of the most popular ranking events on the calendar.

The top 32 seeds are joined by 32 qualifiers who already came through a preliminary phase for the tournament in December.

Four players have already withdrawn from the tournament draw, however, including high-profile former German Masters winners Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ding Junhui.

There is an increased total prize fund this year with £100,000 going to the champion, a record sum for the event.

2025 German Masters Prize Money
Champion: £100,000
Runner-up: £45,000
Semi-Finals: £21,000
Quarter-Finals: £13,200
Round of 16: £9,000
Round of 32: £5,400
Round of 64: £3,600
Round of 96: £1,000
Highest Break: £5,000
Total: £550,400

Who is in the 2025 German Masters draw?

Judd Trump returns as the defending champion having won the German Masters title for the third time 12 months ago.

Trump has been the most consistent performer across the last year or two, and as a result he tends to be the outright betting favourite for most events these days.

He will begin his bid to capture the title for a record fourth time when he faces David Grace in round one.

Six other former winners were set to challenge again at the venue stages this year, but that has been reduced to four after the withdrawals of O’Sullivan and Ding.

Kyren Wilson, who won in 2019, will entertain tour rookie Cheung Ka Wai with Mark Selby in action against Liu Hongyu.

Mark Williams and Ali Carter are both two-time champions, with the former drawn to face Ireland’s Aaron Hill.

Carter had been expected to play He Guoqiang, but the young Chinese cueist has pulled out citing medical reasons, giving the Captain a bye through to the last 32.

Shaun Murphy – a runner-up to Selby in this competition ten years ago – will take part in his first tournament since landing the prestigious Masters crown last week at the Alexandra Palace.

The Magician would love to also get his hands on the Brandon Parker Trophy and will launch his week’s challenge against Liam Graham.

A lot of the other heavy hitters are involved too, with the likes of Mark Allen, Neil Robertson, John Higgins, and last year’s runner-up Si Jiahui in the field.

The German Masters represents one of the last opportunities for players to secure qualification to the World Grand Prix.

Only the top 32 players from the one-year ranking list will receive an invite to compete in Hong Kong in March.

After the German Masters, there are only two counting events before the cut-off point for the World Grand Prix lineup.
