Norris excited to race against Hamilton ‘even more’ this year

Lando Norris has expressed his eagerness to battle Lewis Hamilton “even more” this year, as the seven-time world champion embarks on his Ferrari journey.

Hamilton’s maiden campaign with the Scuderia is one of Formula 1’s biggest stories of 2025, with pundits speculating whether the Briton can restore Ferrari’s glory and secure an elusive eighth world title for himself.

As the sport’s season opener in Australia draws closer, drivers are weighing in on Hamilton’s switch to the Italian outfit.

Among them is Lando Norris, who can’t wait to reignite his on-track rivalry with Hamilton, now in the iconic red of Ferrari.

‘When I’m on track, it doesn’t make a difference’

Norris’s perspective on racing Hamilton remains unchanged despite the latter’s team switch, for it’s the competition that matters as far as the McLaren charger is concerned.

“When I’m on track, it doesn’t make a difference,” he stated in a recent interview on ITV’s This Morning.

“It’s the same when you’re on track with anyone. There are always guys you give extra metres to, and there are guys that you can race well, and Lewis is one of those guys.”

Norris’ words suggests a respect for Hamilton’s racing prowess and an understanding of the nuances of on-track battles.

“I’m excited to race against him more this year. It’s always an honour to race against someone like him, and always something I’m excited for.”

Norris’s words reflect a genuine admiration for Hamilton and a desire to test himself against the best.

“I want to prove myself. He obviously wants to prove himself, like he’ll continue to do and fight until he stops in Formula 1,” he added.

A Cool Story and a Bold Move

Norris also shared his thoughts on Hamilton’s move to Ferrari.

“It’s a cool story for him to go to Ferrari after everything he’s achieved, I think it’s a cool step,” he said.

“A lot of people said maybe it’s not the right thing to do and so forth. But I would probably do the same if I was in his position!”

Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari has not only brought renewed hope to the Tifosi but has also added a new layer of intrigue to the sport.

For Norris, seeing Hamilton in Ferrari’s iconic red is an inspiring sight.

“It looks cool. It’s an amazing story for him, and I know he’s going to want to go there with a fresh mindset and show everyone that he’s still got the Lewis Hamilton he has shown for many, many years prior,” he concluded.
