Man Utd predicted lineup vs Burnley

Manchester United will limp from their latest defeat in midweek back into Premier League action on Saturday when they visit Burnley in an evening kick-off.

Erik ten Hag is yet to settle on a consistent starting XI this season with mass injuries and other availability issues making life hard for the Dutchman in his second term at Old Trafford.

The coach was missing 11 players for the Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night but that number should lower slightly when they head to Turf Moor to face the Clarets on Saturday night.

Raphael Varane and Mason Mount are the prime candidates to come back into the fold, though Sofyan Amrabat may have to wait before he can make his debut.

Here is the team Ten Hag may choose to ensure United get a much-needed third Premier League win of the season.

GK: Andre Onana – It hasn’t been a great start to life at United for Onana and the howler against Bayern didn’t help, but time should show he is the right goalkeeper for this team.

RB: Diogo Dalot – Portugal international Dalot is certain to start at right-back for a while with Wan-Bissaka facing a few weeks out.

CB: Raphael Varane – Having rejoined full training earlier in the week, the expectation is Varane will start on Saturday and that is a huge boost for United.

CB: Lisandro Martinez – It has not been a good start to the season for Martinez but he would benefit from Varane’s return.

LB: Sergio Reguilon – With the injury to Wan-Bissaka meaning Dalot is needed on the right, this late move is looking smart right now. Reguilon was largely impressive against Bayern, at least going forward.

CM: Casemiro – The Brazil international got a lot of stick for his performance in midweek and he does seem to have regressed. He somehow ended the match with two goals.

CM: Scott McTominay – Fitness may preclude Eriksen from starting again and with Mount only expected to make the bench and Amrabat still out, expect McTominay to bring some more physicality to the midfield.

RW: Alejandro Garnacho – He saw little in the way of action against Bayern as Facundo Pellistri started, but the Argentine should come back in against Burnley.

AM: Bruno Fernandes – He was uncharacteristically anonymous against Bayern. Fernandes is usually superb or awful, with very little in between. He will want to change that against Burnley.

LW: Marcus Rashford – A relationship on the pitch is building between Rashford and Hojlund and that can only be a good thing. He often looks too isolated on the left without Luke Shaw, though.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund – This would be a third start in a row and after finding the back of the net twice – with only one counting – Hojlund is establishing himself as the main striker at United.
