Would You Play this New Vice Pro Golf Ball Pattern?

Would You Play this New Vice Pro Golf Ball Pattern?

Vice is one of, if not, the largest direct-to-consumer golf ball brands. I suppose you can chalk that up to equal parts quality and attitude, although I suspect a good bit of the latter reflects the company name and its willingness to try almost anything when it comes to painting a golf ball.

While most brands’ urethane offerings are limited to a couple of colors and maybe a pattern or alternative alignment aid, Vice offers up a Home Depot paint aisle’s worth of options.

Whites, greens, purples, and the insanely popular drip options; nobody does color like Vice.

Apparently, that’s not enough.

Vice appears ready to offer a striped version of its popular Pro Plus golf balls

New to the USGA’s conforming ball list is the first alignment pattern we’ve seen from Vice. With separate colors for the Pro Air (teal/black), Pro (red/blue), and Pro Plus (black/black), Vice appears ready to launch its take on stripe alignment.

It’s fair to suggest that the apparently upcoming Vice pattern takes inspiration from TaylorMade’s Stripe. The Vice implementation looks a bit like a combination of the original Tour Response Stripe and the black and white TP5 version.

The center portion is white (like TP5), but the Pro Air and Pro models’ outer fringe features the hint of color you’d expect from Vice.

In a crowded segment of the equipment market where golfers often struggle to discern differences between products, it makes sense to give golfers as many reasons as possible to consider your product.

Vice already gives you plenty of color, but by entering the alignment space, the company is giving a segment of performance-driven golfers a reason to try a Vice Golf ball.

No word on retail availability, but it’s reasonable to think it won’t be long.

The Vice Pro Air will also be offered in a Stripe version
