Tour Championship: quarter-finals preview and schedule

Next up on the 2025 Tour Championship schedule are the quarter-finals, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday in Manchester.

The top four seeds will enter the fray in the penultimate ranking event of the season, where a £150,000 champion’s cheque is up for grabs.

They’ll be joined by Mark Selby, Ding Junhui, Barry Hawkins, and Xiao Guodong who each safely emerged from their opening-round ties at the start of the week.

Let’s take a look at the four quarter-finals on the 2025 Tour Championship schedule.

Judd Trump vs Barry Hawkins

Barry Hawkins produced a five-ton performance as he thrashed Shaun Murphy 10-1 in the first match of the competition on Monday.

The Hawk’s reward is a meeting with world number one and top seed Judd Trump in what is a repeat of their UK Championship final from December.

Trump edged that contest 10-8 and was a much more comprehensive winner when the pair clashed again at the Masters in January.

The 35 year-old boasts a superior head-to-head record overall and will be looking to bounce back after suffering a disappointing defeat to rival Kyren Wilson in the final of the recent Players Championship.

When is it? Wednesday, April 2nd at 1pm and 7pm UTC+1

John Higgins vs Xiao Guodong

John Higgins and Xiao Guodong will duel in the last eight of a ranking event for the second time in a matter of weeks after the Chinese cueist edged countryman Wu Yize.

Wu’s defeat ended his hopes of claiming a last-gasp automatic spot at the World Championship, with the top 16 seeds for the Crucible now confirmed.

Xiao, meanwhile, will look to enact revenge on Higgins after surrendering the last four frames in a 6-5 defeat to the Scot at the Players Championship.

A rejuvenated Higgins is bidding to win the Tour Championship for the first time, one of the few elite tournaments he hasn’t won during an illustrious career.

Neil Robertson vs Mark Selby

The Neil Robertson and Mark Selby tie is another on the Tour Championship quarter-finals schedule that mimics a fixture from the same stage in Telford.

Selby beat Si Jiahui 10-6 to set up a repeat match with the Australian, who he lost to 6-3 in the most recent ranking event on the calendar.

Robertson and Selby have been playing each other on the main tour for the best part of two decades and share an even head-to-head record against one another.

The former is a two-time former Tour Championship winner, while Selby is bidding to match his previous best run of reaching the semi-finals.

When is it? Wednesday, April 2nd at 7pm and Thursday, April 3rd at 7pm UTC+1

Kyren Wilson vs Ding Junhui

As things stand, it would be difficult to argue against Kyren Wilson representing the player of the 2024/25 season.

The Englishman has won four ranking titles during his campaign as world champion, including three when he has beaten Trump in the title-deciding affair.

First up for the 33 year-old at the Manchester Central is Ding Junhui, who orchestrated a 10-3 victory over reigning champion Mark Williams in the first round.

Ding beat Wilson en route to capturing the International Championship title this term, but China’s best has lacked consistency overall and will be the clear underdog on this occasion.

When is it? Thursday, April 3rd at 1pm and 7pm UTC+1
