CADIZ – Four teams and four other individuals qualified on Monday at the Cadiz Country Club for the Ohio Division II boys golf district tournament next week at Eaglestix Golf Course in Zanesville.
St. Clairsville, which advanced to the state meet last fall, shot a 300 to easily outdistance Steubenville by 21 strokes. Barnesville was third at 335 and West Muskingum fourth at 337. Buckeye Local just missed at 361.
The Red Devils’ Brodi Foster was the sectional medalist with a 69. Also heading to the district are Mavrik Malin (74), Andrew Abel (76) and Evan Fix (81). Ethan Turner was the fifth player at 82.
The Big Red were led by Christopher Elliott with a 75. Nick Nurczyk followed with an 80 while Waylon Hayes carded an 81. Bubby Reese was the fourth player at 85. Evan Liggett shot 100.
Leading the Shamrocks was Brady Gallagher with a 76. Hayden Treadway (82), Ayden Van Horn (85) and Caden Sellers (92) were the top 4. Graham Spence shot a 94.
Reid Lemity’s 78 paced the Tornadoes.
Also making the cut were Buckeye Local’s Preston Lindsay (84) who won a playoff between East Liverpool’s Preston Dawson (84) and Cambridge’s Jackson Reed (84). Reed was the odd man out.
