STORRS — UConn women’s basketball will be without star junior guard Azzi Fudd Thursday night against No. 20 Maryland.
Fudd is out with a knee injury, leaving the No. 8-ranked Huskies with just 11 available players against the Terps. Sophomore forward Ayanna Patterson remains out recovering from an offsesaon knee procedure while redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy is out for the year with an Achilles injury.
According to a release from UConn, “Fudd suffered a knee injury in practice earlier this week. More information will be available at a later date following testing.”
A source said Fudd did not practice with the team earlier on Thursday.
The star shooter has averaged 30.4 minutes per game in UConn’s first two games of the season thus far. She scored 13 points with three assists and three rebounds against Dayton in the season opener, but was 4 of 13 for nine points on Sunday in UConn’s loss at NC State.
Fudd was limited last season to just 15 games due to a undisclosed knee injury. She also was sidelined during her freshman year in 2021-22 due to a foot injury.
The Arlington, VA. native is averaging 13. points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 28.2 minutes so far in her collegiate career.
